Repent: God Restores
Before I jump right into the main topic of this blog post, I would like to mention first that today we are celebrating Father’s Day. Blessed happy Father’s day to every dads out there. I am very thankful to the life of my Father, who continuously providing and protecting this family. I am very thankful to the Lord that He had given and blessed our family with a Father like our dad. I pray for God to grant him more lives and to keep him safe and healthy always.
Now back into the main topic of this post, today’s message is still a continuation from the previous series Songs of Hope, focusing on the Book of Psalm. Today’s topic focused on Psalm 32. This Psalm is written by David, probably during the time he had slept with Uriah’s wife Bathsheba. David sinned against God. But this Psalm shows us how David anguished as he dealt with the burden of his guilt because of the sins he had committed. But God promises a restoration if we confess and repent our sins to Him. The blessings of God’s forgiveness frees us from the guilt and makes us enjoy our relationship with God.
Remember that God loves us, and His grace alone, He wants us to repent. By God’s grace we can admit our sins to Him. The great joy of restored relationships is we can fully enjoy His presence in our lives. Our sins hurts us – it brings us sorrow and pain. But remember that God is just and He is faithful. He wants us to confess our sins to Him and repent. And this brings restoration and change our lives. Just like David who was freed by the guilt of his sins because He confessed and repented, we too can enjoy a life not dealing with the burden of guilt because of our unconfessed sins.
Psalm 32
1 Blessed is the one whose transgression is forgiven,
whose sin is covered.
2 Blessed is the man against whom the Lord counts no iniquity,
and in whose spirit there is no deceit.
3 For when I kept silent, my bones wasted away
through my groaning all day long.
4 For day and night your hand was heavy upon me;
my strength was dried up[b] as by the heat of summer. Selah
5 I acknowledged my sin to you,
and I did not cover my iniquity;
I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord,”
and you forgave the iniquity of my sin. Selah
6 Therefore let everyone who is godly
offer prayer to you at a time when you may be found;
surely in the rush of great waters,
they shall not reach him.
7 You are a hiding place for me;
you preserve me from trouble;
you surround me with shouts of deliverance. Selah
8 I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go;
I will counsel you with my eye upon you.
9 Be not like a horse or a mule, without understanding,
which must be curbed with bit and bridle,
or it will not stay near you.
10 Many are the sorrows of the wicked,
but steadfast love surrounds the one who trusts in the Lord.
11 Be glad in the Lord, and rejoice, O righteous,
and shout for joy, all you upright in heart!
